Rohit has been the NSW Trade & Investment Commissioner for India since October 2009. He is responsible for attracting foreign direct investment, promoting trade and maintaining high-level government and business relationships for NSW.
NSW is a hotbed for technological innovation with more than 50% of Australia's startups located in NSW's capital city Sydney. Rohit & his team are currently managing a program to bring more than 75 NSW innovative startups into the Indian market in the areas of Fintech, Cyber Security, Agtech, Medtech, Sustainable tech, Advanced Manufacturing tech, etc. The objective of this program is to enable these startups to pitch to the Indian corporate for their products, services or solutions. In the past 18 months a number of NSW Startups have been successful in the Indian market under this program.
Apart from the above, the NSW Government assists Indian companies to explore opportunities of expanding their operations in NSW. A number of Indian ICT/Digital businesses have successfully made Sydney their Australian headquarters with many others in the pipeline.
